William "Bill" Thomas Berry (born July 31, 1958 in Duluth, Minnesota, U.S.) is an American musician, best known as the co-founder (along with Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe) and drummer for R.E.M. before retiring in 1997 to work as a farmer. Other than the drums, he played many other instruments for the band, including guitar, bass, piano and mandolin.
