"These Days" is a song by R.E.M. and is the second track on the band's 1986 release Lifes Rich Pageant, recorded in Belmont Mall Studios, Belmont, IN. It was written by all four original band members (Berry, Buck, Mills, Stipe) and runs for 3:24.
The song was frequently played live on tour after the release of Lifes Rich Pageant as a set opener. "These Days" remains popular with the band, and was played several times in 2008 on the Accelerate Tour, however it was not placed on the regular release of the band's 2006 I.R.S. "best of" album And I Feel Fine… The Best of the I.R.S. Years 1982–1987, but was included on the limited edition bonus disc as ex-drummer Bill Berry's pick from Lifes Rich Pageant. The song is upbeat, and has an energetic drumbeat, which are reasons possibly behind Berry's choice.
